Chennai: Famous YouTuber Irfan, who previously faced controversy for revealing his unborn baby’s gender, is now in deeper trouble. After the same baby was born, Irfan posted a video of himself cutting the baby’s umbilical cord with scissors. This video has now been removed from YouTube, and the police have started investigating. There is even a possibility that Irfan may be arrested.

Irfan, well-known for his food and travel videos on his "Irfan’s View" channel, often shares personal moments, including updates on his marriage and family life. A few moths ago, while in Dubai, Irfan found out the gender of his baby during a hospital visit and announced it on YouTube. This led to demands for action against him, as gender testing is illegal in India. However, after Irfan apologized, the Tamil Nadu Medical Department dropped the case.

Now, Irfan is facing another controversy. Last July, when his wife gave birth at a private hospital, Irfan filmed the delivery and posted it on YouTube. The video showed several moments, including Irfan talking to his wife before the delivery, her being admitted to the hospital, and the birth itself. However, at the 11th minute of the video, Irfan was seen cutting the baby’s umbilical cord with a pair of scissors.

This sparked strong criticism. Legally, only government-approved doctors are allowed to enter the operating theater and handle medical instruments like scissors. Doctors are now protesting, stating that Irfan’s actions were illegal, and have called for strict action against him. Following this, the Tamil Nadu Medical Department contacted YouTube, asking them to remove the video, which Irfan then took down himself.

However, the health department has said they will send notices to both Irfan and the hospital involved, asking for an explanation. Based on their responses, the authorities will decide if further action will be taken against Irfan. Additionally, a complaint has been filed by a man named Elangovan at the Semmancheri Police Station. The complaint demands action not only against Irfan for using medical equipment without proper training but also against Dr. Nivedita, who allowed him into the operating theater.

The Semmancheri police have registered a case and are investigating based on the treatment records of Irfan’s wife and the video evidence. There is a possibility that charges could be filed under laws related to the misuse of medical equipment and improper use of social media. The police have also registered a case against Dr. Nivedita and sent a notice to the private hospital in Sholinganallur for further inquiry.

There is no issue with revealing the baby’s gender or cutting the umbilical cord if you are in a foreign country where such actions are allowed. In India, however, revealing a baby’s gender before birth is illegal due to concerns over gender-based discrimination. While there is no specific law against a father cutting the umbilical cord, in India, only trained medical professionals are legally permitted to handle medical equipment during deliveries. Despite this, many consider it a special moment for a father to cut the baby’s umbilical cord, symbolizing a meaningful connection.
